Roberto Cavalli born in 1940, is famous for using wild animal prints and bold cuts in his designs. At the early age of 17 he enrolled himself in the Institute of Art of Florence. Following his grandfather's footsteps who was a prolific painter he decided to specialize in textile applications of paint. Floral motifs on knitwear which were his first creations were a huge success and caught attention of the major Italian hosiery industry. Hermes and Pierre Cardin were his first clients. He presented his first collection at the age of thirty at the salon of Prêt-à-Porter. Thanks to this collection he went to the official presentations at Pitti Palace. Quickly after this was a catwalk show in Milan. On the catwalk leather patch work and wild animal prints were evident. Since then his attraction for animal prints increased and now it has become his brand signature.

The newest brand started by him is Roberto Cavalli Class which features "classy yet sexy" designs. It has men's as well as women's clothing and this line is represented by super model Kevin Navayne. Roberto Cavalli Angel features clothes and accessories for children from the age of 6 months to 14 years.
