Jean Paul Gaultier is a French fashion designer who was born on April 24, 1952.He started his career in 1970 as a design assistant at Pierre Cardin, a famous fashion designer who was impressed by Gautier's talent and hired him as his assistant. In 1976 Gaultier set up his own label. He didn't take any formal training in fashion. He designed clothes inspired from London street scene than Parisian couture. In the same year his first individual collection was released. Fashion designers aim to bring high fashion to the everyday. His most famous design was in the eighties when he recreated undewear as outerwear. He has been known as the bad boy of french fashion. He attempted to pull down the prosaism of masculine styling by promoting the use of skirts especially kilts on men's wardrobe in 1988.

Jean Paul Gaultier has been in the limelight of fashion for twenty years. He is now considered one of the most significant designers of recent times. He bought modification by using models like older men and full-figured women, pierced and heavily tattooed models in his exhibitions. He was both criticised and appreciated. Madonna's wardrobe for her 2006 confession tour was designed by Jean Paul Gaultier.

The first fragrance gaultier launched in 1993. it was originally known as jean paul gaultier but was later renamed. The notes for the women floriental include bergamot, orange blossom, rose, mandarin, aniseed, carnation, orchid, iris, ylang ylang, ginger, vanilla, wood, amber and musk.

* Le male

Le male was known as a scented bomb for men which was introduced in 1995. It is currently the number one men's perfume in European Union, Australia and United States.

* Gaultier2

It is the first unisex fragrance in the Gaultier line introduced in 2005. It features notes of ambergris, musk and vanilla.

* Fleur du Male

Fleur du male (Flower of the Male) is jean Paul Gaultier's latest men's fragrance launched in April 2007. It contains notes of petitgrain, orange blossom, a fern/fougère accord, and coumarin.
Gaultier currently designs for three collections, his own couture, ready-to-wear lines as well as for Hermes a French leather goods company.With every new design he shows his increasing skills as a fine designer with no faux pas. Everything from his tailoring, draping, celestial blue satin to a cherub print to lace embroidered with a chalice seems to be in perfect harmony.
