Studying at the Arnhem academy brought Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren together, and they eventually founded their own fashion label 'Viktor and Rolf' in 1993. Working together for 14 years they have harmonized and blended the right amount of magic that make their designs so different. They like it upside down- designers usually begin designing prêt-a-porter and the move on to couture. V&R began with couture and now also design ready to wear clothes. Their boutique in Milan precisely mirrors this sentiment where there are mats on the ceiling and chandeliers springing up from the floor. They'd like to term it "surreal" as many of their clothes are. In 1998 they began with a bang by organizing an underground fashion show during the Paris Fashion Week which the media attended and gave rave reviews to their designs.

Their reputation of shocking the fashion world singles them out from the motley crowd. V&R has the fashion world on their toes wondering "What next?!" They sell in over 20 countries worldwide and once you've had a taste of them, you can't get enough! They've developed a signature style where there's no limit to crazy. V&R's views on fashion are outspoken and their take is a little eccentric. The designs have been described as avant-garde, surreal, eccentric but it emanates a fine taste in modern and classical art. The designs are in themselves a work of art and the presentation just blows you away. Moderation is not a V&R trait, everything has to be over the top, and so their shows are more like theatrical performances with the clothes in the leading roles.

At V&R, fashion is much more than just clothes or just looking good. It's an aura, a desire, a dream, an emotion all combined to make you wear what you wear. It's an insight into your soul and echoes your personality. Their men's-wear line labeled "Monsieur" and their women's line has very interesting clothing with a more DIY approach. They have expanded their line to include scarves, footwear, eye-wear, neckties, lingerie and recently, a perfume range.

Their Spring-Summer '07 collection comprises of elegant and chic designs with fabulous cuts. It's an interesting mélange of blacks, whites and crèmes. V&R have taken classic familiar garments like the trench coat and the little black dress and completely turned them around. They have given it a new identity and made them glamorous. It's now unfamiliarly familiar. Their designs often border on the bizarre.

Their perfume called "Flowerbomb" is an absolute delight to the olfactory senses. They call it an "Antidote to reality." With hints of jasmine, tea, centiflora, orchid, bergamot, rose, freesia and patchouli is really a flower 'bomb'. It's a fiercely positive fragrance.

Their inclination to flabbergast fashion is what perhaps makes V&R fascinating. Their emotion packed designs are a rage. V&R cannot be described, it has to be experienced
